Baltic Honeybadger Returns to Riga for Its Seventh Edition
In a year packed with increasingly corporate conferences, Baltic Honeybadger remains a stronghold for the grassroots spirit of Bitcoin.
This August, Baltic Honeybadger, one of the most established Bitcoin-only conferences globally, will reconvene in Riga, Latvia for its seventh edition. Scheduled as part of Riga Bitcoin Week, the conference has built a reputation for its technical depth, ideological clarity, and no-compromise commitment to Bitcoin.
Founded and organized by the team behind Hodl Hodl, the event is a non-profit initiative. Over the years, it has evolved into a central meeting point for cypherpunks, developers, investors, and entrepreneurs who are not only building on Bitcoin but living by its principles.
A Conference Built for Bitcoiners
Unlike broader cryptocurrency expos, Baltic Honeybadger draws a clear line: this is a Bitcoin-only space. That clarity is reflected in both the content and the audience. Attendees typically include those deeply embedded in the ecosystem—people involved in protocol-level development, privacy tech, and long-term infrastructure building.
The conference maintains a two-day format, typically split between keynote-style talks, panel discussions, and more intimate sessions that allow for open, and sometimes controversial, dialogue.
2025 Speaker Highlights
This year’s speaker lineup underscores the event’s standing within the Bitcoin community. Notable names confirmed so far include:
Adam Back (CEO, Blockstream), a key figure in Bitcoin’s early development and a long-time advocate of cryptographic financial systems.
Giacomo Zucco, known for his educational and philosophical work on Bitcoin maximalism and sovereignty.
Preston Pysh, co-founder of The Investor’s Podcast Network and one of the most visible voices bringing macroeconomic analysis to the Bitcoin world.
Peter Todd, independent researcher and cryptography expert who has long worked on Bitcoin Core.
Martti Malmi, an early Bitcoin contributor who collaborated directly with Satoshi Nakamoto.
These names continue the legacy of previous years, which have seen speakers such as Jack Dorsey, Michael Saylor, Saifedean Ammous, Jack Mallers, and Andreas M. Antonopoulos address the conference.
“This is the most OG Bitcoin event in the world, and I’m proud to have been involved in it since year one. Every year, we push it further, introducing cutting-edge tech, experimenting with new ideas, and giving stage time to the brightest minds in the space,” Anna, CEO of Hodl Hodl, said in a statement.
According to Anna, Baltic Honeybadger creates a unique environment for meaningful collaboration, where some of the best ideas in the industry are born.
“We love what we do, and we’re proud to support the future of Bitcoin development through this initiative,” she added.
Beyond the Main Stage
One of the defining features of Baltic Honeybadger is the Cypherpunk Stage. Unlike the polished presentations on the main stage, the Cypherpunk sessions are off-the-record, inviting more candid conversations around issues of privacy, censorship resistance, and the intersection of Bitcoin and civil liberties.
In these sessions, speakers are encouraged to drop the filter and address sensitive issues in a closed, Chatham House Rules environment—fostering trust and honesty among participants.
Riga as a Bitcoin Hub
Baltic Honeybadger is not a stand-alone event but rather the cornerstone of a week-long gathering. The broader program of the Riga Bitcoin Week includes meetups, technical workshops, and informal social gatherings that span the city’s venues and public spaces.
From sessions on multisig setups and self-hosting, to grassroots conversations on digital identity and off-grid sovereignty tools, the extended schedule supports those seeking practical knowledge and community connection.
Staying Aligned with Bitcoin’s Ethos
Baltic Honeybadger’s enduring appeal comes from its consistent principles. There are no NFTs, no altcoins, and no vague references to “Web3.” This is a conference for people who believe Bitcoin is not only viable, but necessary, as a tool for financial sovereignty, privacy, and long-term systemic change.
While larger events increasingly court institutional capital and political narratives, Baltic Honeybadger remains an enclave where ideas can be challenged, technology can be interrogated, and Bitcoin can be understood on its own terms.
Baltic Honeybadger 2025 takes place August 9-10, 2025, with the Riga Bitcoin Week activities running between August 7-11.
